Quick fixes
| What you see | Try this |

| No bulbs found | Check that LAN Control is on for every bulb and that your Mac is on the same Wi-Fi. Then open System Settings, Privacy & Security, Local Network, and make sure Glowbeat is switched on. |
| Lights don't react to music | Make sure something is playing and your Mac isn't muted. Check System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen & System Audio Recording, and switch Glowbeat on. Then lower the Trigger Level, or tick Always react. |
| Party paused by itself | Someone changed a bulb in the Govee app, so Glowbeat stepped aside. Press Resume. |
| The wake-up timer didn't turn the lights on | Bulbs need power to wake up, so leave their wall switch on. Timers run while your Mac is awake. If it was asleep, the lights catch up when it wakes. |
Common questions
- 01 How do I turn on LAN Control? On your phone, open the Govee Home app and tap a bulb. Tap the gear icon in the top right corner and switch LAN Control on. Do it for every bulb. Glowbeat can't see a bulb without it. Don't see the switch? Update the bulb from that same settings screen, then look again.
- 02 Some of my bulbs show up, but not all The missing ones almost always have LAN Control off, or they're switched off at the wall. Fix that, then click Rescan (the circular arrow at the top of the Glowbeat window). Guest Wi-Fi networks can also hide bulbs from your Mac, so keep everything on your main network.
- 03 Which bulb is which? Click the flash button next to a bulb and that one blinks. Then drag the bulbs into the order they sit in your room, and give them names if you like. Wave and Spread look much better once the order matches the room.
- 04 The lights feel late or too jumpy Try a different Feel. Punchy and Tight react fastest. Mellow and Dreamy are smoother. If the lights only move on the loudest parts, drag the Trigger Level marker lower.
- 05 I can't find the menu bar icon When the menu bar is full, macOS quietly hides icons that don't fit, especially on a laptop with a notch. Quit a menu bar app or two and it should appear. You can also turn the menu bar icon on or off in Glowbeat's Settings.
- 06 Will my bulbs work? I've only tested Glowbeat with the Govee H6004 bulbs, the 6 pack from Costco. Other Govee lights might work, but nobody has tried them yet. If you try one, tell me on GitHub how it went. That helps everyone.
- 07 Which Macs does it run on? Any Mac running macOS 14.4 (Sonoma) or later.

- 02 Your bulbs The Govee model number (it's on the box and in the Govee Home app) and how many you have.
- 03 What happened What went wrong and what you expected instead. If it was during a party, say which style and feel you were using.
